About Us

This is a place for friends to share memories, discuss current topics and create new ideas.  We have Marion in common; some still live there while many others live at all corners of the U.S.

This site works because people visit and contribute.

My hope is that it will help us stay connected.

Marc

Who WE Are...

(excerpts from previous posts 2002)

Who are and/or is the garrison? Where did we come from? But, more importantly, where are we going? Is there a we? I know some of you guys, well, pretty well; but some less, or not at all.
What are we looking for? What did we collectively and selectively miss, or get, or lose, or win, or groove?
Does anyone wonder? Someone(s) did, or this site wouldn't be. Thanks be to thee & thine.
Is this fun? Is it getting better? All the time (not)? Northern California beer and, er, um, can't say, you know what I mean, and I think you do, ...greenscape...
Wow, who is Frederick Aaron Smith, and how did he become who he is?
Is there anybody out there?
Saucerful of Secrets (Pink Floyd) a GREAT unearthing.
Got Dead's Dick's Picks #27 on just now. Whoa Nelly!
Happy Trails, FRED SMITH

And it is a sentence starting with AND...what has this world come to....It is what we are...a group of guys who shared a part of our lives and now...thanks to Marc and his wonderful ability move mountains...we are seeing another mountain begin to sigh and step aside....the members you don't know are already a part of who you are as you are also a part of who they are. We swirl and blend into a being of one spread across the world sharing common goals and life styles....we THE GARRISON have become who we are because of who you are. A part of me taken from Nick whistles when I drive...a part of me taken from Scott loves to draw faces and hands....a part of me taken form Marc is outgoing and stops at nothing to get what I want. Get it..? We are all one in the same...brothers with different mothers. And a town called Marion ....where time slowed, enough for us to grow slowly and fly away with the confidence to return. CHIP WOODS

Thank you Chip for the reply to the ?. I guess I know this already, but you articulated in a beautiful, might I say, succinct way. Still must figure out what to do w/ all this. It's important, I think, to do something about, well, whatever we can do something about. I haven't found out what yet, and, um, it seems it's getting later than I thought. Yet, there is something to do: take your pick, locally best @ first- family, friends, neighbors, the cops and gangs on the beat (why did I add 'gangs'?). Those of us blessed w/ not being @ survival mode, even if we're only 1 paycheck, or 2, away from the shelter, have opportunities unbeknownst to most in past 15,000 years. We should get the reigns on this beast and tame it to a mellow but glorious ride into the sunrise! Ah, to write optimistic when oh so much is the not good (out there, in here, yuck!, it's everywhere!). Anyway, always want to present a happy face in dire times.
Pray for peace and psychedelic thresholds. FRED SMITH
